    Biography

I have worked in a variety of oncology specialties including allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplant, lymphoma, immunology, and radiation oncology. Since the fall of 2004, my nursing practice has focus on caring for cancer survivors. One exciting aspect of my position is that I have developed consensus recommendations for Dana-Farber’s Lymphoma program about post treatment standards of care. These recommendations have been developed into an electronic medical record based method to provide treatment summaries and care plans for patients at the completion of lymphoma treatment. This method was tested in a clinical trial directed by Michelle Walsh, DNP.  Working with the stem cell transplantation clinic, I have developed a multidisciplinary clinic that all allogeneic stem cell transplant patient that are one year post treatment go to develop a long term follow up plan. The best part of my job is being able to care for my patients and their families. I have been able to work with a multidisciplinary team to indentify any post treatment risks survivors may have and help them to develop a plan of action to prevent or reduce these risks.  I am an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society. I have participated in the Institute of Medicine’s National Cancer Policy Forum workshop on implementing cancer survivorship care planning. I am a former associate editor for the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. I continue to be a patient advocate as member of the National Cancer Institute’s CARRA program, participating in peer review of extramural research funding grants.
